Orange River Cellars is an established company with five wine cellars and a grape juice concentrate plant located along the Orange River. We currently have the following positions available:

Experienced professional to lead a sales force in order to implement and establish wine brand/s in the formal and informal markets. Your successful track record managing a sales force and your ability to increase the company’s footprint is essential for this role.

Sales Manager Job Duties:

  • Determines annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing marketing strategies, analyzing trends and results;
  • Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products;
  • Implements national sales programs by developing field sales action plans;
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors;
  • Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand;
  • Completes national sales operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results;
  • Maintains national sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees;
  • Maintains national sales staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
  • Management reporting and budget control;
  • Liaise with Marketing and Product Development departments to ensure brand consistency;
  • Stay up-to-date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board;
  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric, Bachelors and/or post graduate degree in sales, marketing or relevant equivalent as well as a valid driver’s license;
  • 7 – 10 years sales experience in the wine and spirits and/or FMCG Sector and managing a sales force within all Trade Channels;
  • Strong analytical ability and commercial acumen to understand financial statements, market trends and ability to do price calculations;
  • Clear understanding of markets, sales and distribution within South Africa;
  • Clear understanding of market structure and common practice / ways of how business is done;
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, leadership and motivation skills;
  • Ability to develop business strategies and break them down into actions;
  • Management reporting and budget control;
  • Key Account experience advantageous;
  • Ability to work independently with responsibility, organization and results and solution orientated;
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans with strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in all MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) And CRM Programs/Software
